The Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging helps older adults live independently by connecting them with available programs, services, and helpful resources.
The Senior Food Box Program / Doorstop Delivery
Senior Food Box Program works to supplement the diets and improve the health of low-come seniors with nutritious USDA foods. If you live in Washington County, are at least 60 years of age and have a household income at or below 130% of the U.S. poverty level, you are eligible for the program through our Food Bank. Doorstop Delivery may be available to qualifying seniors.

Senior Farmers Market
Nutrition Program
SFMNP is administered by Counties' Area Agency on Aging. The program proivdes 5 vouchers Seniors can use at participating Famer's Markets in their county.
This year, the agency is accepting applications online and mailing vouchers directly to participants’ homes. Please see the link below to apply. Applications are also available at senior centers, the SeniorLine and at legislators’ offices.
These are the eligibility requirements for the program:
-Must be a resident of Washington County
-60 years of age or older (by December 31, 2026)
-Meet the income guidelines (self-reported):
One-person household: At or below $ 29,526
Two-person household: At or below $ 40,034
-Married couples may receive one set of vouchers for each individual

Pharmaceutical Assisstance (PACE)
PACE and PACENET programs help qualified residents, age 65 and up, get prescription medicine at a lower cost. These programs work with Medicare Part D and other drug plans, like those from retiree plans, employers, Medicare Advantage, and Veterans’ Benefits, to reduce the money you pay out of pocket for medicine.

Ride Program
Freedom Transit provides shared ride service, meaning you may ride with others who could be picked up or dropped off along the way. We strive to keep rides under one hour, but trips may take longer than traveling alone, so please plan accordingly.
Shared ride service is door-to-door. Passengers requesting assistance will be helped from pick-up to drop-off. Drivers cannot lift passengers or wheelchairs up or down steps. All vehicles are ADA accessible.
All passengers must be registered with Freedom Transit before using shared ride services, and advance reservations are required.
